MYCORRHIZAL FUNGI:
The vital link between plants and soil.
Mycorrhizal fungi are an essential part of the plant growth. Mycorrhizae, which means "fungus-root," work as an extension of the plant's roots to help the plant to take up soil nutrients and water exchange for a steady source of sugars. This co-dependent (symbiotic) partnership has evolved over millions of years to help plants survive and grow better in stress conditions. Thousands of research studies have shown that inoculating plant roots with mycorrhizal fungi increase the health and survivability of plants, but no method was available for reproducing the fungi in the amounts needed for commercial use.

In natural soils, mycorrhizae are readily available to plants. However, in urban landscapes, degraded lands, and most agricultural lands, mycorrhizal fungi are often not present in adequate quantities. This is especially true when soils are moved, compacted, have fertilizer and pH imbalances, or are low in organic matter. In addition, commercial potting mixes and fumigated soils in which transplant trees are grown are often sterile and do not contain beneficial mycorrhizal fungi.

In nature, certain species of beneficial bacteria promote healthy plant growth and protect plant root systems from soil borne disease organism. These "good" bacteria are called rhizobacteria. While common in natural settings, their populations are often very low or absent in nursery potting soils, urban environments and disturbed manmade landscapes.

A water soluble microbial inoculants containing six selected species of beneficial rhizosphere bacteria selected for their favorable impact on soil fertility and structure. Application of the Plantmeds Inoculants will introduce a mixed microbial population to biologically depleted soils. Successful establishment of beneficial microbial flora is an important aspect of soil fertility.

Directions:
Tree Care/Soil Injection: Mix ¼ -Lb per 50 gallons to treat 1250 square feet. Inject the entire area beneath the canopy to a depth of 8 to 10 inches at a rate of 1-qt per injection on 2 ½ foot centers. Product is compatible with fertilizer mixtures and mycorrhizal fungi inoculants.

Turf, Flower Beds, Area Treatment: Mix with water to apply 4-Lbs per acre (1/4 Lb per 2,500 sq ft) initially. Thereafter, apply 2-Lbs per acre (1/4 Lb per 5,000 sq ft) every 4 to 8 weeks. Follow with water application to rinse product into the soil.

TIP: MIX A 1/4 POUND " 1 UNIT" OF INOCULANT WITH 4 GALLONS OF WATER LET STAND 30 MINUTES,
THEN APPLY TO 2500 SQFT IF FIRST APPLICATION, 5000 SQFT ON ALL FUTURE APPLICATIONS PER YEAR.
